Book of the Month: Priceless
Priceless By Robert K. Wittman
Over the course of 20 years with the FBI, Robert Wittman was the man in the shadows—unseen at press conferences and name unmentioned in all the newspapers. And yet he was engaged in the most delicate of cases, extremely high stakes chess games with smugglers, thieves and entrepreneurs to rescue our history, patriotism, and culture all in the embodiment of art. Sounds like a movie right? Well this memoir has one up on the movies because it is true, told with well-reported facts and fantastic photos of our art world’s reclaimed treasures. Review by Nicole Blackburn.

Art Chantry Poster Show
Don't miss this show folks, Chantry is a legendary designer known best for his low-FI designs for rock bands, like Nirvana, Hole, the Cramps, and the Sonics. These bands epitomize the Seattle music scene of the 1990s, and Chantry’s designs have become the visual record of that same scene. When designing Chantry prefers to work with his hands using less technologically sophisticated processes. In a 2002 interview, Chantry explained that he doesn’t “love the computer as a one-stop all-solution design tool.” He went on to say that, “there is no more direct a path to ideas than hardwired mind-to-fingers.” The plethora of ideas his manual manipulation has afforded will be represented at Bradley University Galleries by splash of over 100 posters.

CD of the Month: Sigh No More
Sigh No More - Mumford & Sons
A swelling sensation arises with each driving and poignant track from this accomplished London-based band. Sigh No More offers an uplifting beat that reaffirms the belief that there are still quality songwriters to be found. Like old souls in lively form, Mumford & Sons sound age-old, as though they were stolen straight from a centuries-old seaside town, but still imbued with a vibrant spirit. The guitars matched with strings and lead singer Marcus Mumford’s brutally honest voice, cut to the heart with raw emotion. Definitely a gem of fulfillment in a sea of want.
Get it at Co-Op Records.
