THRIFTY THURSDAY: Time to entertain

With summer in full swing, more daylight and more vacation time are welcome occurrences. What's better than getting together with friends for a home dinner party while you reminisce about Julys past and watch the kids catch fireflies. If the thought of throwing a classy dinner party is daunting, fear not and check out supplies at the local thrift stores. After a morning excursion with fellow thrifter Swanky Lady Vintage, I pounced on these two swish wine carafes for only $1.50 a piece. These are great to have on hand especially when you plan on serving red and white wine, and not only do they look cool but they are easy to carry and less likely to get knocked over than a wine bottle. If wine isn't your thing and you'd rather go for a small cocktail party, reach for a handy shaker, this one is fantastic due to the fact that all the recipes are printed on the exterior. This piece was found for $3.99 at a thrift store. Search for mismatched swanky highball, collins, and martini glasses to accompany...it sure beats the lame red party cups. For fun tell the guys to dress in suits and the gals to dress in cocktail dresses, pretty soon your party will look like a scene plucked from Mad Men.
